of high attenuation. The prosthetic lens is also thinner, only about 12 mm thick. It is otherwise in the same anatomic position and orientation as a native lens. These characteristic CT features of an intraocular lens prosthesis readily distinguish it from most diseases of the intraocular lens or a traumatically introduced foreign body within the anterior chamber. It is theoretically possible that a similar appearance may be seen with posttraumatic cataracts with associated spontaneous phacolysis and valious types of phacectomy, as a residual capsular membrane may be present [4]; however, we have not yet encountered such examples.

Idiopathic ischemic cerebral infarction in childhood: depiction of arterial abnormalities by MR angiography and catheter angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We report our experience with MR imaging, MR angiography, and catheter angiography in children with acute idiopathic cerebral infarction and suggest that catheter angiography may still play an important role in this setting. METHODS During the past 8 years, 18 children with idiopathic cerebral infarction underwent MR imaging and catheter angiography; 17 were also studie...
متن کاملPoor school and cognitive functioning with silent cerebral infarcts and sickle cell disease.
The authors evaluated education attainment and neuropsychological deficits in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and silent cerebral infarcts. Children with silent infarcts had twice the rate of school difficulties as children without infarcts. Eighty percent of silent infarct cases had clinically significant cognitive deficits, whereas 35% had deficits in academic skills. Children with si...
متن کاملLong-term effect of surgical revascularization on silent microbleeds in adult moyamoya disease: A case report
BACKGROUND Recent development of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has shown that silent microbleeds can be observed in a certain subgroup of adult patients with moyamoya disease. The patients with microbleeds are at higher risk for hemorrhagic stroke. However, the beneficial effects of surgical revascularization have not been established in asymptomatic patients with moyamoya disease. The author...
متن کاملSilent cerebral infarcts in patients with pulmonary embolism and a patent foramen ovale: a prospective diffusion-weighted MRI study.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Pulmonary embolism is thought to be associated with a small but definite risk of paradoxical embolism in patients with a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Although neurological complications are infrequent, the incidence of clinically silent brain infarction is unknown. We assessed the rate of clinically apparent and silent cerebral embolism in patients with pulmonary embolism ...
متن کاملCerebral infarction: incidence and risk factors after diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization--prospective evaluation at diffusion-weighted MR imaging.
PURPOSE To prospectively evaluate incidence of clinically silent and clinically apparent embolic cerebral infarction following diagnostic and interventional coronary angiography and associated risk factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS Written informed consent was obtained from all patients, and the study was approved by the research ethics committee of University of Heidelberg, Germany. Fifty-two p...
